is very popular now. when i'm in whs having a free scan at the magazines i quite often end up chatting to one old lady or another. it seems making cards is the new trend for old and young. if i can get a day spare.it is therapy to me.to spend the whole day sorting out my draws full of craft items and then making cards.if you had a whole day spare what craft would you like to participate in. if i had two days spare i'd like to get my year old unused canvas and paints out and paint a happy picture of some sort. i would like to just sit quietly for ages untill i got an idea. i would have to resist coming on here of course for these to days.nah i could have a quick nip in.
My mum makes and sells cards, I've never really been able to get into it. Crafts wise I am really trying to push my skills with knitting, but finding a modern pattern for what I want is proving very difficult. I've found a couple of books on amazon but I'll have to wait a while until I get them!
I am going to try and push my photography too, not a craft as such but definitely something within the 'arts'.

I would love to give some old furniture a French paint finish, canvas painting, papier mache. I also would love to learn to do pewter work.

I wouldn't want to spend a whole day on crafts, too boring after a while, even if I alternated. But I would like to mess about making paper for a morning... I have done lots of papier mache, just simple bowls, and love doing that... trouble is, a woman only needs so many bowls you can't put water in!! I would love to learn to paint as well. I do make my own cards, am excited now as it is time to sort them all out, see who gets which one for Christmas. I used to design and make them, sell them in a posh gallery and a gift shop too, but these days they are just for my own use. I would also like to spin fleece and dye it... so many different crafts to try, and who knows, maybe one day I will actually get off my you-know-what and actually do it!

I too used to make cards and sell them through craft fairs and to a local garden centre to sell in their gift shop. Not long ago I started making jewellery from semi precious stones and stirling silver and find myself so engrossed in making pieces that a day can pass in no time at all.

I saw something different in one of our local magazines this morning at the hair salon. Round paper doilies, folded in a triangle and stuck to a black board. Sweets, ribbons, lace and paper strips with a little message are also placed in this triangles. Kind of Advent calendar.

I'm never happier than when I'm making something, it gives me so much satisfaction and a sense of achievement. Tonight it was a pumpkin lantern for halloween - looks more cheerful than scary but my son likes it!

I had a session the other night making candles. I collect all my scraps of wax and melt them down in colours, adding extra new wax, then either pour into glass jars, or if there's enough wax, dip them. The dipped candles come out all different, as the wax cools it forms differently. Fran.

I'm just on my third satin ribbon purse for female members of our family. I'm actually knitting with the ribbon and very successful. They are in pretty colours and finished off with ribbon roses. I'm going to fill them with a giant scented soap.

i spent a few hours friday making some cards.they turned out great.inside i experimented with stamps and embossing.i realised what lovely effect you can get with a good intricate stamp and then gold with crystelly bits in embossing powder.its great when you look at what you'v designed and its good.

I'm so jealous, making the cards is no problem, but I'm hopeless with verse, or even suitable words sometimes.

i just sit quietly and think about the person whose card it is.like to show them in words how i feel.especially as i wont be there on the day.
