Have any of you read the two novels by Kate Morton? Her first book entitled 'The House at Riverton' was very good. However, her second novel entitled 'The forgotten garden' is excellent. Kate Morton from Austrailia is very clever at weaving a tale bordering on fairy tale and full of intelligent mystrey. A nice chunky nearly 650 pages, it makes a good read, which had me guessing right up until the end. She does alot of decade hopping, from 1913 to 2005 but in the 'forgotten garden' it really works, as it is necessary for the plot. I just hope she writes another book soon!

Hi Sunflower, I read House at Riverton and enjoyed it. As a would be writer myself I had one eye on the way she was telling the story as much as reading

She also looks really beautiful. Not that I'm jealous of course.

Yes, she certainly knows how to weave a tale. That's interesting Sandbay. Good luck with your writing.

I really enjoyed The house ar Riverton, Sunflower. I just found The forgotten garden in a charity shop to add to my big collection put by for the winter. I bought almost £450 worth of books this year at Summer fetes for £15. I got so many that were on my book wish list, and several new authors, and books by authors I have already enjoyed. Nothing like a winter's night, a hot whiskey, a hot water bottle, and a good book snuggled up in bed!

I enjoyed both books and have looked to see what else she has written. It seems there are no new titles, but have found that in 2007 she wrote "the Shifting Fog" which is in play format and sruprising ly is subtitled "Riverton Manor" set in England in 1924 and 1999. Will try to find it as I enjoyed the others.

Gentian - I've read the book Shifting Fog & I think that Shifting Fog & The House at Riverton might be one in the same - perhaps the publisher just marketed the book using different titles in Australia & the UK?

Thanks for that Baab, I won't wear myself out looking. I hate starting a book to find I have already read it.
