The advert for this looks enticing, anyone tried it? I think it might be hot chocolate weather. How do you like yours? With cream, a flake or marshmallows?

No I haven't tried this one, but it might not be available here. I have however tried the new Lindt Hot Chocolate (which is essentially flakes/shavings of beautiful luscious chocolate) and it was divine. Oh, my other favourite is Green & Black's Hot Choc. drink, I drink this when I really should be having a cup of tea. As for accompaniments, I prefer my hot chocolate unadulterated.

Mmmm! Mmmm! Pippa, I agree with you that it looks like hot chocolate weather. I prefer mocha, which a bit of coffee in the hot choc to add a bit more depth to the flavour. I like G and B too, Baab, and the Lindt one sounds good. However, I just buy the Co-op Fair Trade one which is very nice. Ideally I like a good thick swirl of cream on top, a dusting of cinnamon, and a flake or thin crispy biscuit on the side. Gosh! Just off to make some now, in fact...

I agree! Is it right to have this thread before the watershed? As for swirls of cream and flakes and dustings of cinnamon..................!!

Tiggywinkle: I purchased the divine Lindt at my local supermarket. I'd ask about it at your local supermarket and see if they can get it in. It wasn't cheap, but it is a truly indulgent drink-I'm addicted!

Thank you Baab. I'll have a search around, and then use it as a treat for really miserable nights.

I love Whittards Hot Chocolate with Chilli added. Yummylicious!
As I do not like milk, I make all my hot chocolate drinks and cocoa (Green & Blacks) with soy milk (unsweetened). In the middle of winter, I always add a dash of some liquer, such as Cherry Brandy or Frangelico.
Sometimes, if I am using the sort that you just add water to, I add a mug of coffee instead of plain water for a delicous mocha drink.
Whipped cream, mini marsh mallows, sprinkles etc all find thier way in depending on my mood.
Never thought about adding liquer, now you've definitely got me thinking Rustic! Always wanted to try chilli and chocolate too - find it an intriguing combination.

They are a combination made in heaven! Try Lindt 70% with chilli, too! I bought a Lindt one that had a sort of jam in the middle, that wasn't good, but the plain chocolate with chilli is fab.
Try a square (no more) of dark chocolate next time you make chilli con carne (or chilli NON carne!) Just melt it in and it takes the dish to a new dimension.

Ah the Mexican Way - Arriba!!
My lovely friend introduced me to chocolate in chilli con carne a few years ago - she had been in Mexico travelling & performing with the circus - I often feel very dull in comparison to this very interesting friend!!
Hot chocolate is wonderful with a splash of rum - cinnamon whisked in and also dusted on top of whipped cream and marshmallows - what time is it? damn, 12 hours until bedtime!!

Thank goodness swmbo hasn't seen this thread!
she's an insulin dependant diabetic but it is amazing how often I find part bars of dark chocolate in the cooking ingredients cupboard. She has to hide it from our daughter who would be a chocoholic given half a chance.
I am not tempted at all, I'm strictly savoury in my tastes.
I bet your respective OH's don't realise the extent of your choc cravings ladies!

Hot chocolate is one of those things that I always feel I should like, but I just don't. I don't know why, because I love chocolate and other sweet things but just not the drink. My hubby on the other hand is a big fan and he loves the Whittard christmas hot chocolate, which is white chocolate with lovely smelling bits (can't remember what). He always has this in his christmas stocking.

Hi Rustic, you have really tempted me with two things,I love the idea of liquouer(sp?)
in hot chocolate ,very civilised! also the idea of putting a little dark chocolate into a chilli,I can feel a chilli coming on!!.
I don't have ordinary milk now (lactose intolerance) but recently,my friend and I went into Starbucks and had a hot chocolate with whipped cream on top,and they made it with soya milk which was really quite good .I must try Whittards hot chocolate next!

I am not lactose intolerant but simply prefer soy milk to cow's milk. I don't like cow's milk at all. In fact, I only like milk in 'solid' form, that is cheese, chocolate, cream etc!

I haven't tasted Whittard's chocolate, so can't give any comment on it, but, I don't like white chocolate at all, it's to sweet. x

When I make my Christmas cake I always buy some cheap Brandy to go in the cake and soak the cake every fortnight up until Christmas. I just love Hot chocolate with a touch of Brandy in it. It's really very very very nice!!
