At the end of this week we will be driving over 7 hours to Zeebrugge for the overnight ferry to Hull. Then we have a week with family & friends in Wales and North Yorkshire, with a detour to see my 86 year-old mother in Staffordshire.

It's not a journey I'm looking forward to although I like the ferry as we have an en-suite cabin - P & O don't allow sleeping on couches any more, you have to have a cabin. Doies anyone else travel by overnight ferry from Zeebrugge to Rotterdam? One of things I have to do before we leave is to plan the route from Hull to North Wales. There are motorways but we find them so unpleasant and busy, especially as we'll be driving on the wrong side of the road! I've a horrible feeling we'll have to use them though.

So this is goodbye to you all until I get back.

red start your mum will love trentham gardens if you get time.every time i go it gets better. it seems to be a haven for older people as everything is on one level. there is about 20 little shops with very different things in them.then theres the large building with garden and gifts. the garden and plants are not as prolific as bridgmere.theres lots of places to get very nice food. the restaurant in the main building is excellant.

Have a nice trip and top up on all the food goodies you cant get on the continent.
Driving on the "wrong side" better on motorways than on narrow roads when you can not overtake I find.

I'll be off to Italy for 5 days on Thursday.

Hope you enjoy your trip Redstart.
We frequently travel from Hull to Zeebrugge as we only live an hour or so from Hull. Maybe I'll see you pass us!

Look out for a metallic grey Ford Focus with a funny number plate and a CH sticker onthe back
