In a paper bag in the fridge.

I am about to grow my own mushrooms this year, but there is alot of prep to do before hand. There is nothing better tasting then freshly picked mushrooms. Shop brought mushrooms sometimes taste chewy.

Always in a paper bag.
I never buy more than I intend to use, and try not to keep them more than 24 hours at the most.
Have you tried dried mushrooms? There are so many lovely types available, like Shitake, Porcini, etc. and when you can't readily get them near you it is one way of having them. Also, the strained soaking juices (strained as they can be gritty) makes a lovely addition to any casserole, soup or stew. I've even slackened off tomato puree with it to use on a pizza.
I LOVE mushrooms!

I tried dried onions a long, long time ago and didn't like them, found them papery and flavourless. I also tried frozen and they tasted of plastic, UGH!
This was all in the name of 'not crying' :(
Dried mushrooms, tomatoes and peppers is what I use the most of, and they all have a deep, intense flavour of their own that has to be tasted to be believed.
