What are your favourites? Mine are a long soak in a hot bath, preferably with candles. A leisurely walk in a beautiful place, by a river or water. As I am a silver surfer, an afternoon nap with a good book, if time allows.

Bike ride along the promanade. The sea and sand are lovely. The ride is about 10 miles each way, and my left knee just about gives out on the way home, but definately worth it, then to sit down and watch a lovely movie!!!

A lovely walk that takes in a range of different types of environment and terrain. Reading a good book with rain lashing outside, the woodstove roaring, and a selection of tasty snacks and a pot of tea nearby. Pottering in the garden with my elderly dog. Hearing a friend or neighbour's good news. Listening to my partner puffing and panting while he does the hoovering and polishing!

Watching the birds playing in the garden, especially the thrushes in the undergrowth; walking along the beach in winter when we have it all to ourselves (no one else silly enough);fruit blossom covering all the trees.

Who needs tv? Today I watched a red kite; it was being chased by a group of crows and flew really near the house. I could clearly see all its markings and feathers. I think it was trying to confuse its followers. It then disappeared and the crows sat about in a tree pruning themsleves. Then they too disappeared and shortly afterwards the red kite came back and flew down near my neighbours compost heap. I don't know if it found anything there but shortly afterwards I saw it rise and fly away. I've never been so close to a wild red kite before - and all for free!

Sunsets, chatting with a friend, sharing a sense of humour with my daughter-in-law, a day's gardening when it looks as if I've achieved something, freedom to let the day unfold as the we wish now we don't have to go to work (that's priceless).
