Never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight. Have you ever been the lady in red and what does this song mean to you?
Or even The Way you look tonight?

Actually, ...... the song doesn't have a direct meaning to me, apart from being a lovely song. How did I look yesterday evening - with a lot baking done, and a bit a busy week so far, not as I would've wanted to look!

Must light the fire tonight.

chris de burgh sings it so romantically. i have had my day. i have a lovely black dress my mum says (my mum) i looked like a film star in it. my hubby said i looked beautiful. that was a few years back. i actually want to grow old gracefully.so i'm ready to get my smart skirts and trousers and let the sexy black dress days go by.
I have to buck the trend here ladies and say that it's definitely not my thing at all, don't really like the song!
I do remember though that when Rich came up to stay when we'd just been together for 3 or 4 months, I arrived at the train station to pick him up, having dolled myself up a bit. I was wearing some nice brown boots, camel coloured skirt and jumper with a long coat, and had taken ages with my hair. Just as I arrived it started to snow, and when Rich got off the train he gave me a look I won't ever forget, saying how lovely I looked. It felt so nice, and he still remembers it even 7 years on. It was magical because the snow just fell down after that, I think it stayed for a few days which was pretty magical for me.

what do you think.did we grab a bit of that glamour at brigadoon.with our beautiful dresses and mingling with the stars. tell you what i am wondering.do you think every so often we should doll ourselves up for our hubbies.you know get a bit of that old romantic sparkle.i think our hubbies should dress up smart for us once in a while to. thats the beauty of murder mystery parties. my hubby was an aeroplane pilot.when he was dressed up in this uniform i didn't half fancy him.

Now that's a brilliant idea eleanor! As long as hubby dresses up in his kilt, sporran and the rest I would be ever so happy!

I must admit that I agree with Oola - Chris de Burgh's songs are a bit too cheesy for me. However, when the song Lady in Red was in the charts I was invited to a wedding where the Matron of Honour wore a red dress and the band played that song, with a really over the top, schmaltzy singer crooning away while she danced. Then when the band had a break he cornered me and asked me with a leer if I was wearing any red that I might like to show him! His face was the reddest thing in the room when I told him where to go and the mic picked up every word and boomed it around the room. So whenever I hear that song I have a slight stomach-churning feeling...
