If one writes a blog is it available for all to read?

What I mean is, I have a private diary at home but if I decide to write a blog I would like it to give a little insight of living on Jersey.

I have a good friend on Jersey, Daff Noel, a local historian, don't know if you have heard of her? Also another friend who also lives in St. Saviour. But to answer your question, I seem to remember one of the problems some CL members were having is that the blogs on there were available for ANYONE to read, not just people on that site. Which is a common problem of being on the internet, once out there, there's no hiding. So provided you are aware of this, and don't give away who or where you are, it is up to you. Beautiful island though..

On the blogs on this forum you can choose your own privacy settings, although at the moment they're default set to private. You can either have them so that anyone can view them, or just people on your 'buddy' list. I'm pretty sure that when set to private they don't register with search engines.

Hi Gothfairy,

I'm quite happy to write about the island, and not the least bit worried about others reading a blog. Personal details wouldn't be included, hardly, seeing as we value our privacy on the island let alone telling the world where we are by posting images of the house or identifiable landmarks viewed from the terrace. Oh no, I was thinking more general blog, than one of daily do "like its a lovely day for washing today", and "oh BTW I walked the dog."

Actually, perhaps a blog is not such a good idea as it might sound like a Jersey advertisement campaign of "Come to Jersey and see the sights, you can do it all in a day, and catch the next flight to Spain." ;)

The admin section took a little bit getting used to, but otherwise really easy.

I should very much like to be able to view the blogs here, I know we have some quite gifted writers and would very much enjoy reading their blogs. How do I do this?

keepersdaughter at the mo they're set to default private, as those that were being able to be viewed by anyone could still be read despite the site being set to private. Although I'll experiment and see if setting up a 'buddy list' for the time being might solve that problem, and then everyone setting their blogs so that only buddys can see....
