Good news! A lovely Irish chap came around to see me this morning...actually while I was sitting on my seat on the borrowed plot. He firstly apologised fo what had happened. A Polish worker with no English had cut down the bushes, flowers, and Jerusalem artichokes!
Secondly, he gave me his full permission to continue and praised my efforts. The we got talking about how I would like to go further and make it into a real wild walkway. He suggested that I go to a place where he has done exactly that to see his results, and stated that he would fully support me!!! I stated that I had always wanted to create a pathway through beautiful long grasses and meadow flowers. So I will be working on the plans this Autumn.
So God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform eh!!!

Wow excellent news for you sunflower. So glad it turned out ok :) Perhaps next year all your plants will come up, they may have had time to seed themselves. Goodness knows so many of my wildflowers seed themselves in the strangest of places ;)

Great news, sunflower. As oola says, sometimes a good 'pruning' can work wonders too. Isn't it funny how Polish workers are now always blamed for every mishap - he would have been working under the orders of someone else anyway! Sounds like there is a real chance for you to even improve the area that you worked on so carefully. I bet that it will look great next year.
