We have a cat that got a bit unsettled by the arrival of my Bunbuns in the house. So he's gone through a stage of marking everything and piddling up things, which as you can imagine isn't the most pleasant of smells.

Mum mentioned something about using some spirit thing to get the smell (and stain) out, but does anyone have any other ideas? The bunbuns come in most nights for a hop about for a few hours (after a couple of hours having the run of the whole garden outside of their run), but lately they've done a couple of piddles right on the corner of the rug, and I am desperate to get them out quickly!!!!

Bicarb is a natural smell remover. Alternatively, whilst a stain is still wet, cat litter sprinkled on might remove the smell.

I did try bicarb, but I think Tom's and bunbun's wee is superduper caustic smelly piddle pee!

Sloshing liberally with soda water is meant to be good for cat pee, Oola - it certainly worked for old dog pee. Also, I have heard that neat vodka works well too, but have never tried it. These ideas are obviously meant for people who have a well stocked home bar!

Oola won't you have to go back to a vinyl floor or the like so you can mop it over with disinfectant? carpet or rugs are going to be very difficult for you to deal with over a long period. X
