I see on TV that Cheshire Show is on at the moment. We used to have a local agric society and an annual show, which I really enjoyed. I used to enter things in the 'ladies section' and won many a prize for my home baking. Eventually it all fizzled out. The nearest will now be the Royal Lancs show at Preston, but I've never been there. As a child, we used to take stock to the Lancaster show.
Do you go to a local agricultural show?

Hi Franbee, we have quite a large agricultural show here once a year during September. It's getting bigger each year as well and exhibiters from all over the country come here. It's usually over 3 days and it's called Agrimega. xxx

Hi Franbee, there are quite a few around here. It is possible to go to one every week over the late summer. My baking isn't good enoguh to enter, but I love to go - especially to look at all the different types of sheep. I never get tired of looking at them, and find myself getting wildly excited when it comes to the sheep judging and sheep dog trials. Maybe I was a sheep in a past life.

I didn't think I was good enough to enter, but I had a go, and my scones won quite a number of years, also sandwich cakes, bread, jam, all sorts. I just made my ordinary stuff, but it has to look really good, you'd be surprised how many scones you have to make to get a plate of 4 looking the same. The family were pleased though, they got to eat the 'rejects'! Mum used to enter too, and come to stay for a few days. One year she wasn't well, and couldn't come, so as I had paid for her entries, I put my own in as hers, and won 1st and 2nd. It was funny really though, the comments were different, taste, texture etc, but the entries were identical.
