Spending too long posting message so you loose it.

Oola I am not moaning!

This site is so much easier than CL and your partner has done a brilliant job.

My problem is I have gone into posting quite a long reply and then get called away to do something only for a minute or so. I come back and complete my message. Then I 'Submit' and it's all gone!

So is it something like a 'Time out' of not using the site.

Is there a way to save the message if I get called away?

No probs. My other half didn't design this software, but he helps out with all the technical server issues etc. He also pointed me in the right direction and set me up with this software, so I guess we can still give him credit ;)

I did extend the time-out on posts to 25 minutes. I think if you go beyond that, you do lose your post. Would you like it extended?

My posts sometimes fail to work if I use 'quick reply', but I've never had that problem using 'post reply', so for a long reply, it might be better to use the latter.

I'm not sure if this helps, but a few times when I've been rambling on and doing other stuff at the same time, it's timed out and I've had to relog on, hitting 'go advanced' seems to have done the trick.

I have just lost a posting again. I didn't seem like 25 mins but it could have been. Had to pop downstairs and let Lucy the dog in.

I came back up and my message was still there so I merrily carried on typing and then hit Submit and message was gone. So it needs me to log in again.

Oh! yes I do not use Quick Reply.

Is it if the keyboard is not been used for several minutes does it log out? I wasn't away for 25 mins though.

Would anyone else like a little longer time allowance?

Would it help if you hit the return arrow in the left corner of your screen? When the funny/strange notice appears that I can't go back to Rural Muse after reading some posts, I just hit that arrow and I'm back.

Also as I've said in another post (somewhere!), ticking the box that says 'remember me' when you sign in will stop it logging you out if you're writing a long post.
