As I sit here and browse and type, I'm perched on the edge of the office chair, as one of my cats has resolutely taken up residence on said chair. To my left is her sister, curled up on the poang Ikea chair. Her trick is to wake up, decide it's time for tickles and come and sit inbetween me, my keyboard and my monitor. So half the time I'm typing 'blindly', with only a cat in view. Quite often she'll also perch on the back of the office chair, on all fours. A bit like a transformer, she becomes a nice pillow or draft excluder, with in-built relaxation soundtrack in the shape of soothing purr sounds.

That is lovely Oola even if it is a little inconvenient at times!
I could have done with one of them to soothe frayed nerves today! I have spent all morning wrestling with my new printer which I only partially installed over the weekend, for some reason the installation cd would only go half way and ignoring the photoprinting department.I ended up getting through to the manufacturer and a very helpful lady helped me to install it all without the cd: the purring of a cat would be just right now to calm things down! These wonderful things are great when they work aren't they but when things go wrong, Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Hi Oola, I like the way you described the "trouble" with your catkids! I'm sure they cannot wait for "mum" to do some work at the computer. Obviously they love you!

Yeah, we have timesharepuss helping to type, she doesn't sit on your lap but likes to walk on the keyboard! Fran.

Have to keep making corrections. Is it the colder weather that makes cats want to sit on your lap?

Hi, I don't have a cat and wouldn't know, but it seems logic for a cat to do that in colder weather. Perhaps the cat experts could help?

I think cats resent the computer having your undivided attention. It's their way of trying you to get you off it. My dog lies patiently beside me for hours, but she recognises the sounds of me shutting the computer down and leaps up in readiness!

My dog Jess is laying beside me and also knows the minute I switch off and is ready for fun.

One little dog we had used to sit next to me whilst I read; when he thought I had ignored him for long enough he used to nudge my elbow with his nose, sometimes hard enough so that the reaction caused the book to close.. dumb animals ... NEVER..

Our little dog just came back from a grooming session, with little bows tied in her hair, all nice and white. She knows so well she looks pretty. Got a whole different way of walking. Also knows when she has to go to the salon, because we've got to drag her litererally out of her bed, it being early in the morning. Fortunately the salon is just around the corner from us. "Lady" has got be carried there - no walk for her there, oh no. Then the ears are completely flat, but the moment she sees the lady at the salon, ears go up, tail wags like mad and she cannot wait to go and sit in her arms - ready for whatever's going to be done! Dogs? no, more like kids if you ask me! Now she's lays on her continental pillow next to me, being absolutely content with her circumstances. I love you to bits, old Pinky! :D

I had 2 flies for companions today, the whole day! I could just scream. No matter how hard I tried to get rid of them, they were just sitting there on my screen like they're on a computer course or something! I hate flies!

Hi Oola, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Our Tortie, Cookie loves to lean against my monitor, which means I have to clean the screen of fur every day. She also likes to play with my fingers as I type. Our big Tom Cat sits on hubbies desk and purrs in the in tray. They are terrific companions aren't they?

I have a great picture to insert, like Crocus has done, but don't know how to do this. Could you advise. I have clicked the icon at the top of this text box, but it only gives the HTML option. Hmmmm, thinks.

Crocus what a cutie you have there :) My grandmother's neighbour's dog is a shitzu (sp?!) and poodle cross, it's just adorable. She's really bouncy and soft, runs around like a mad thing, chasing apples and doing circuits in teh garden. She looks adorable when she comes home from having her fur cut - all neat and a bit sheep-like!

That is so weird Sparrow - we have a torti and tom cat too(he was a stray from down the street and he's been here so long the lady said we can keep him, so haven't had him 'done' yet), and his best friend is the Torti we've nicknamed "Torti" or "Tortoise" (original, huh?!). She lives across the street and her owner lets her come and spend the night if she's working and the cat can't get back into her home (landlord not allowing a catflap).

To put in a pic you need to use the 'post reply' button (bottom left hand corner of thread). Then you go to 'Manage Attachments' button underneath the text box and should be able to upload the picture from there, if it's on your computer. If it's already on the web you can just put in the URL using the Quick Reply text box, and clicking on the 7th icon from the left (looks like a pic of grey mountains and a sun).

Hope this helps

Here's my ginger tom....(with a couple of battle scars)

Hi Oola, she is cut, isn't she! Wouldn't look into the camera though! She had her fur cut as well 2 days ago. Last week she's been quite unwell (had a problem in her colon) but it's sorted out. She's back to her bouncy self!
Love your cat - he looks quite intelligent!
