Now the bootfairs are drawing to a close do any of you go to fleamarkets or collectors fairs.I shall be looking out for indoor stalls or else i get withdrawl. The symtoms are your brain keeps saying, Must find a bargain, must find a bargain!Let me know what you booters do in winter.

Well, went to Wimborne market on Friday...my last day off from work and managed to buy some pretty fruit spoons for the Christmas fruit relish in Brandy and ginger syrup I have made for presents. They can either spoon it from the jar or spread on crackers and cheese. Great fun to make.

I'm trying hard not to get into boot fairs - once hubbie starts that I will spend all my time driving him from one to another! However, as soon as the weather turns we are to be found in the local auctions and fairs, buying and selling. Only trouble is hubbie always buys more than he sells!

Has anyone ever been to the famous (or infamous!) portobello road market? I just wondered whether it's really worth going there, or whether you'll pay a premium because it's London and it's so well known.

I would love to go to a French fleamarket around Paris...

the charity shops are where i will frequent to satisfy my bootmarket impulses once the boot markets shut down.our saturday one only ever stops if the weather is realy bad.prob shut most of december to march.but if a nice day appears so do the booters.it is on the grounds of a pub.as it gets quieter stalls set up on the car park.only what we call the die hards set up then.not many bargains so we dont bother stopping.

Hi Oola,I went to portobelo road market once when I lived in london, but A.that was around 30 years ago and it was pricy then, and B. I would rate Camden Market,Chapel Street Market,Brick Lane and even Petticoat Lane above portobelo if were visiting London again. There were two involving the name Camden, one is now Camden Lock and the other Camden Passage which is near Chapel Street if you fancy a market trip to the Metrolops!

In reply to both Katelb and sheddie, I've heard a bit about brick lane before. London is basically pretty accessible for me, but the cost of getting there would probably be tantamount to what cash I would take with me.

I've been to the Newark fair (Notts), that was on a pretty grand scale. I think I was in my mid teens and came away with a really characterful old fashioned bear and an old typewriter!!!!
