Hi! all, I am having some trouble with my typing these days. Quite often I seem to make typo errors in posts that I would never have done before. I am wondering if it is just a matter of my brain going too fast for my fingers, or whether there is such a thing as 'typist's finger', as it seems that I don't always manage to hit the keys as firmly or in the order that I think I am. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm a touch typist (she says, completely mis-typing a whole word there), and I find that quite often I'll skim a key rather than hit it properly. When I write sometimes I also miss out letters and make a bit of a mess. I think it's a case of your brain going on autopilot and letting your fingers do the work, they tend to follow a pattern and sometimes get a bit ahead of themselves.
I also have a knack of going to type a word, only to find that I've been hitting the keys close to, but not quite where I intended, but they would have been in the right order!

Oh good, so it's not just me. I thought perhaps it was an age thing !

I find that when I'm tired, my fingers won't do what I want them to do. Like now for instance. It's 10.30 at night here and we had quite a busy weekend. The connection between brain and fingers are a bit weary it seems.

I don't know about an "age" thing, sheddie - I think in my case it's a "varifocal" thing!

Showing my age again, I learnt to type on an old manual typewriter so really had to bash the keys; the keyboard by comparison is so light; half of my working life was spent as a dictaphone typist so I did build up a good speed on the old manual. Only time I experience problems is when my fingers get frozen and won't co operate.

I learn't to touch type many years ago on a manual typewriter and I think having the tiers of keys made a difference. My laptop keyboard is completely flat and I'm convinced that why I make typos. That's my excuse anyway. Age? Varifocals? Nah.

Thank goodness that it isn't just me. I was beginning to wonder if I am developing a kind of finger fatigue! I am a 6 finger typist, but quite fast as I do a lot of typing, and taught myself on an electric typewriter. I like the flat keyboard, but as I use a laptop perhaps the base of my hands resting on the lower part of the laptop makes it more difficult to type? I don't seem to have the same trouble at work on my desk top computer. Not yet anyway...
