I have just popped over to CL, where I see problems continue. My own feeling is to leave well alone as I've found appeals to reason and better nature seem only to make things more unpleasant. I don't enjoy being at loggerheads with anyone and feel in this case there is no resolution to be had so might it be better just to walk away?
This is not meant as a criticism of those who have tried to be a voice of calm and reason.

Hi lily, yes I agree. That's why I only made one post on that thread to make it absolutely clear that I hadn't done this as a money-making scheme and had not been sending out 'recruitment sergeants' (oh how melodramatic) to get people to come here. There are a couple of members that had tried to make some subtle comments that they knew about it here (one reference a few days back to musing on the rural something or other)...but I thought I would leave it as I can't be bothered with bitter women that think intellect and humour is about damson gin, poetry and bad 'wit'. I don't understand why they're so upset though. It was made obvious quite a while ago that they didn't enjoy or want to partake in this sort of friendly, relaxed chat. They don't seem to understand at all that they're the reason that that forum fell apart in the first place. If I have to be the big bad wolf so be it! :)

I agree Lily. I left CL because of the ill will. I found it was easier to walk away and keep my peace of mind. I still pop over sometimes to read the odd posting and I am disappointed to find that the nastiness continues. Sometimes I would like to jump to someone's defence or add my tuppence worth but then I would be just back where I started.
Oola, we all know that you are not as they try to paint you; don't let their bitterness get to you. Thank you for getting this site off the ground for us to chat on amicably and without rancour.

I can ditto all the afore mentioned. From time to time I have a look but only as a visitor,I never log in now;nothing seems to change on there and it is a great shame to my mind that a few people can completely hijack an otherwise peaceful enjoyable forum.
I think the only topic where the barbs have not been too pointed is the 'health' forum it seems even the worst offender will toe the line there.
I don't like conflict of any sort and so to walk away seems the best option.

I too have left because of this - I tried to avoid the general posts after a while but even other ones become a ridiculous battleground. I posted one thread and was dismayed to see the possible beginnings of the same thing on it. I did read the thread you refer to Lily and I must say I found it amusing when one poster claimed to just "dip in and out"! It seems more like sour grapes at not being invited to the party in my opinion. It must be sad to have such an empty life! I'm off to assist hubby in making some cider now, but first, thanks Oola for setting up the forum! Oh and the fact that we left the email me button there denotes that we are happy to be emailed, nothing to do with data protection whatsoever. They could at least get that right!

sorry couldn't resist just airing some views. I know I probably shouldn't have (will only egg the debate on) but they're really winding me up now. anyway, let them get on with it...I'll probably get banned from CL but at least it makes me feel like a bit of a rebel! I'll close this thread now too, let it drop away.
