Hi all, I have managed to get some fantastic roman blinds in a sale. They are really good quality, neutral colours, and fit my odd sized windows - what more could you ask? However, I am in the process of putting them up and even when fully open they still hang down a bit too low, blocking out some of the light in the room, and the nice view through the upper part of the window. I have never bothered with blinds or curtains before as, although we live on a main street, it is in a quiet, small, rural village and hardly anyone passes, and I prefer as much light in a room as possible. However, I thought that I should put them up to make the rooms look 'finished' for potential buyers. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can make the blinds go up shorter?

I don't think you can, Jazz, I looked into having Roman blinds but didn't bother for the reasons you give.

hi, i make roman blinds for people, the problem you have is that you dont have enough folds in your blind, the more folds the thinner the sections and the less windowspace blocked out, if you have a window that is a metre drop and you only have three sections then you will lose one third of your window, you will have to increase the number of panels to decrease the amount of window lost, if you describe the back of the blind i can tell you how best to remedy the problem x
I've recently been on a course to make roman blinds, I have a leaflet with how to calculate the spacings, which I could email you if it might help? I'm really pleased with my efforts , so well worth persevering.

Thank-you littlemiss and lily. The blinds have two rows of plastic rings on the back through which the cord goes to pull them up. The blinds have a larger length at the top before the first set of rings, and then they make the size fold that I need for the rest of the blind. Therefore, it is only the first fold at the top that is too long. If you know what I mean? I hope that this description makes sense.
