Got a phonecall from Mum enthusing about a new knitting shop she's found. It's not your typical Beales-esque nicey nice old codger place at all. "You won't believe the yarns they have there, they're GORGEOUS!"

She went to the actual shop in Woburn Sands, but the website looks very good with lots of online buying opportunities.

Interestingly, their carrier bags are actually from an initiative in India, where street kids make them to earn money. It probably goes beyond that, I guess it helps to them to earn their keep where they're staying. The bags are made from recycled Indian newspapers with little handmade handles.

That shop looks great Oola, gets all the creative juices going. Now is a good time to start thinking about making gifts for you know when later in the year. :)

Looks good. Another knitting web site I like is Laughing hens, I've ordered from them and had prompt service. They also run courses, unfortunately a bit far for me.

Lovely - actually it makes me to want to knit! Redstart will enjoy it as well.

Hi lily, were laughing hens the place that did the ex-batt chicken jumper?

Yes Oola, I'd forgotten about that. Short term memory and all that. Incidentally, local Nat Trust is getting some rescue hens, should be good publicity for the Battery Hen rescue people.
