Hi Oola, is there anyway to insert a photograph from my computer to a posting? I have a flower I would love identified and am sure someone on RMuse would know what it is? I can only find a link to a webphoto. Many thanks.

Yes there is!

If you are linking directly to another web page it's easy enough with the Insert Image icon (7th icon from the left if using the quick reply). You simply click on the icon, insert your weblink and it'll appear, and you are able to resize the image by pressing the shift key (this keeps the image proportions the same but allows you to resize) and dragging the corners of the image to resize. If you want to delete the image you've just inserted just click on it and press backspace or delete.

But with uploading pictures from your computer, the easiest option I've found is to use the 'post reply' button at the bottom of each thread. This will open up a new screen with more options.

What you can do is then go to 'Additional Options' underneath the box where you write your reply.

There you will find a little field called 'Attach Files' (2nd one down) - Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip (these are just all the different files that you can upload to your post).

Click on the Manage Attachments button...then a new window will pop open and you click on Browse on the first empty field called 'Upload File from your Computer'. From here you can select your file from your computer and then click upload. Once it's loaded it'll appear under the title Current Attachments. You then close that window as the file has attached itself to your post.

Once this is done when, as normal you submit your reply, and when your post appears you will see that your attached thumbnail appears at the bottom of your post. Other members can then click on the thumbnail link and view the full sized image...

Dear Oola, I am totally new to uploading photos. I Know how to go to My pictures, find the photo, But I don't know how, where, or when to resize. My photos are all big. I use Picasa to send photos my email, as they are automatically resized.Is it the same procedure for submitting a photo for a blog? I hope I am making sense. I have another question about something else, but can't remember at the moment. Thank you for your help.

I don't think this website has the software to resize the pictures, so generally it needs to be done in whatever software you have before submitting to the website.

I am not familiar with Picasa, I tend to use Adobe Photoshop. I'll have a look at see if I can find you some instructions for resizing your pictures in Picasa. There's usually quite a lot of free tutorials on the web.
