The last two nights my computor server hasn't been working and now my mouse has given up the ghost. It drives me mad when the computor is standing there and I can't use it.The server chap says try it again tonight, we have had problems, but why do you get an answer phone telling you that you are in a queue. If they know something is wrong why don't they just tell you that on the answerphone and stop wasting your time and money!Well I feel better for that I could have done my nut!!!Now I'm all behind with the posts, but who knows when it will just pack up again - maybe tonight?

I was very frustrated yesterday as the Internet cable in the village had been damaged and I was without Internet all day - I am amazed at the number of unread posts there are to read today! I felt totally out of touch!

I have been fighting with my computer and printer since early on this morning and I have only just got the better of it! I have got a new printer, and in order to install it ,I had to uninstall the old one ,well every time I tried to do that,it told me the printer was in use;I found this puzzling because it was disconnected and in a box.I eventually found a file which the printer thought I might like to print and it had saved it for me--it was all my pictures---then I couldn't find an option to cancel the printing which I hadn't asked it to do anyway.Eventually, I was able to cancel the instruction and uninstall the wretched thing.I am now in the process of installing the new one but I've had enough of it today.
Very frustrating the whole thing!!

I bought my lovely white sony laptop only a few weeks ago. Before that I had to use my son's........when he was finished on it. Anyway, since having the new laptop it will suddenly switch itself off. As the screen disappears it tells me it is updating itself!!
This happened this morning when I was replying to Crocus's thread on CL. There is never a warning. I have also lost long e.mails I was inthe middle of writing to my Cousin in Canada.

Well folks we're all having a bit of bother with our technology, but doesn't it get you so you could scream! But I suppose we keep learning all the time!!

I this morning wanted to scream as well, because we had power cuts, again! Without warning, and apparently it was a scheduled power cut which we should've been told about.. But not a single person at our local municipality told anyone about it and when we phoned to find out whether it was Escom again, there were not one person in any office to help! The receptionest didn't know what was going on as well! So it was two huge frustrations today. Perhaps Brigadoon IS the best place to be!

My server has been down again nearly all evening though they said it had been put right, yet another lengthy phone call - then just as i was going to bed I thought I'll try once more and Hooray, here I am - but for how long? Anymore of this and I'm back to Brigadoon!

I have satellite broadband which is "always on" however in severe weather especially wind, for which this island is renowned, I cannot access the internet at all. I just received a server not available notice. It is very frustrating as this service is quite expensive yet it is not awfully reliable.

Someone tagging along chatting on about their ironing or something when I want a quiet walk with jess to hear the birds and reflect.

Having two power failures today, without any warning or anything. Very bad management. Funny thing is, nobody at the local council's electrical departments knows what's going on! Everybody has a different story as well. Fortunatey we have a generator, so at the moment, we're using that to just get by.

Hi Sunflowerjust a thought about your laptop, see if it set to automatic updates because if it is,that could be why it has a mind all of it's own.I believe you can opt to choose when any updates are installed rather than suffer a blank out like you have been having.

Hi Sheddie, correct me if I'm wrong, but Jess sounds like a labrador to me? Everytime I read something about your Jess, I see this biscuity colour labrador with a smile on her face, enjoying her walk in the woods with you. :)

No crocus Jess is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is just 18months and I rehomed her at 6mnths.She had a really bad start in life and I was her 5th owner. She had a bad eye which needed an operation so no one wanted to pay out on it. Then I read an advert and went along to a really rough house and there in the garage was a little white dog named fleur.I tried to walk away thinking about the cost and she looked like she had no soul, but I picked her up and brought her home. She loves me to bits and lays under my computor table. In the park she wags her tail and everyone says how happy she is.She is my little bit of sunshine and I wouldn't be without her.You are right though crocus she does smile at me and I feel she was sent just for me to make me smile.

What a lovely story! Thanks goodness you took it upon you to give her new life! Pets depend so much on us! I know what the Cavalier Spaniels look like - I've seen many pictures of them - they are beautiful dogs. We've been at the vet today with our little Pinky because of a problem she developed. A lady brought along a big box with about 5 labrador puppies (crossed with some other dog!) only 5 weeks old! They had to be removed from their mum for some reason. The will be dewormed and then rehomed once they stronger.

What sort of dog is Pinky crocus? Lets hope the puppies find decent owners.
