Yes that's me! I know I'm silly but can never eat this in moderation. If I have one I want two, piggish you may say but a real problem to me, I have such a sweet tooth.I know it is doing me no good and the arthritis in my knees is really bad where I have put extra weight on and it has gone straight on my knees.I get angry with myself and know I should be able to control it and have yet again started sensible eating. I do eat sensible then go and mess it right up with chocolate.Any tips apart from eating unsweetened fruit which I'm already doing would be greatfully received. To top it all theres Easter eggs everywhere and I have a daughter that has just lost all this weight, but I still can't get a grip myself and it makes me angry with myself!

I'm not a chocoholic as such, but a chocolate now and again just tastes so NICE! We shared a smallish bar yesterday, me and Mr C.

That grip you're talking about, I also struggle with that. It's so annoying isn't it? xxx

Hi Sheddie, like you I am a chocoholic and find it hard to stop once I get going. This year I have managed to cut down a lot, and by eating less have found that I want less. However, for those sweet tooth moments when only chocolate will do I have found the following helpful: Make a small mug of hot chocolate using either a reduced fat / sugar sachet or strong chocolate powder such as Green and Blacks, plus low fat milk. Make it in a saucepan and when it boils add a half teaspoon of cornflour mixed with a little cold water, whisking the chocolate mixture all the time to stop it going lumpy. This makes a cup of thick hot chocolate. If you want something more substantial and chocolatey add a handful of unsweetend breakfast cereal. I find muesli works best! This should keep you going all day. Another tip that I was given is to freeze a bunch of grapes, and when hard dip them in melted chocolate. Eating these frozen chocolate grapes takes a long time and satisfies the cravings without too much chocolate. Good luck. And remember at certain times of the year a little of what you fancy doesn't do any harm...

sheddy just cus i'm not there keeping my eye on you.have you been overdoing the chocolate.tut tut tut.the best trick is buying very dark choclate 80% cocoa or as a treat maya gold.this chocolate is actually not so bad for you.will satisfy your chocolate craving but doesn't have lots of sugar and fats.i might not be there but i will be giving you the third degree when i get back.so behave.

I can go a long, long time without chocolate and then fancy some. But I don't need a lot and then I go for months not wanting any more so no, I'm not a chocoholic. If I'm bought a box of chocolates other people usually finish it for me. I've bought chocolate decorations for the Easter table but doubt I'll be eating much of them. Whereas my son and youngest daughter would find it hard to stop.

I don't overeat in other ways but this sweet tooth has always been my down fall. I shall try some of your tips, thanks. X

Yes, I hold my hand up, I'm a chocoholic too. One thing I've started doing to try to cut down is to have chocolate coated raisins and nuts, just a few will satisfy the craving, the fillings are not too unhealthy, and the chocolate is thin but tasty.
But in London I bought crisp honey coated macadamia nuts, they were gorgeous!

If it wasn't for this arthritis I am not really that bothered about being on the larger size, in fact I like it, but cannot afford to lose my mobility because I have to help OH and need to be able to bend to help him dress etc. But I haven't had any chocolate now for 3 days and think I use it as a comfort food more than anything.Franbee what you suggested sounds good but once again if it is in the house it haunts me and one or two wouldn't be enough.I have to leave it alone completely.Must admit here I bought 2 eggs for children over the road from me to give at easter and ate them also!!X

I know exactly how you feel, Sheddie. If I have chocolate in the house it calls to me too. My mind keeps making the mental journey to the cupboard until I give in and go and eat some and, of course, once the pack is open then the calling gets louder and it is easier to eat the rest. I once thought that I really heard a block of chocolate talking to me, but it was just OH joking around whispering "please don't eat me" from outside the window!

Hi, didn't you know that chocolate DOES talk? It really does.........in such a nice, subtle sweet voice too........., and strangely enough it doesn't stop before you had all of it. Whilst having such a sweet voice, it's also very obstinate......;)

Well another day over and I have bought 2 more eggs for the children over the road, but this time I took them straight over. Wasn't I good? I am eating peaches in natural juice, I find they are the only thing that take away my sweet tooth. I'll look like a peach soon! X

I love all things chocolate as well. However, because I have such a sweet tooth, I also find that eating sweet fruit helps AND it's good for you. Fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, grapes like Jazz mentioned and soft peaches. Also because chocolate is slightly addictive, a month away from that darn deliciouc stuff should sort out the cravings. When you cannot resist, have a bar of chocolate that is high in cocoa content like Green's because(I think I'm rght in saying this) it has less calories.

Oh PS Sheddie, I think that it is'nt the chocolate that is fattening but all the stuff they add to cheaper bars that bumps up the calories, such as, sugar glucose, fillings etc.
Good luck

I have to keep right off it completely, whatever kind it is, my mobility has to take importance, but my it's hard. Just ate stewed apple and a small bit of low calorie custard for my sweet - exciting NOT! X

It's very hard. I've read somewhere that it takes 3 weeks to learn a new habit. So hold on Sheds, hold on. xx

bit of chocolate every now and then is good for you. I don't care, if I truly want it, I'll eat it. And although I'm not in tip top shape, I'm not the size of a house either so I can't be that bad.

Crocus

I love chocolate too, but try not to eat it to much. What I like very much is a chocolate and toffee combination - yummy. Nice sticky toffee on the inside with lovely soft chocolate on the outside. .......... sigh .....

No longer secret sheddie, you have just 'told all'!!!! but you deserve to have a treat sometimes so don't feel guilty,it is more important to feel happy so long as you don't go overboard ,so you enjoy some chocolate from time to time. What was it you said heading a different thread? "A little of what you fancy......"

I know kate but at the moment I am going overboard and putting on weight which makes me feel a downright failure. I have to get a grip!! X
