I know what you're thinking - it's not foxes. I know what a vixen in heat sounds like, and it's certainly not the same thing. Likewise it's not an owl or any other feathered friend.

Tonight I've been hearing very strange, quite macabre short-lived shrieks. I think it could be frogs...but they're very loud to come from such a small animal. Has anyone any idea what it could be?

My first thought would of been foxes Oola but if you think it is not then I do not know.

Guess what - it turned out to be sounds coming from Rich's computer! LOL!

Thank goodness for that Oola. We used to have a strange night time noise, turned out to be a neighbour's back gate, squeaking in the wind!

Maybe Rich's computer is having night time anxiety attacks from being overworked! It is very funny when you discover that a strange noise is something so ordinary. When we first moved into our last house, every morning at around 5am we were woken by a strange scurrying sound overhead then a scraping down the wall and then the sound of a milk bottle being overturned. It was so puzzling, and we never saw anything, and tried working out the weight of the strange predator etc. We eventually discovered that it was our upstairs neighbour, a frail elderly woman, shuffling across her floor in a pair of big fluffy slippers, and then lowering her empty milk bottle down the side of her external staircase on a rope!

Whilst on sounds - just after we moved in here, we were sitting quite peacefully in the livingroom watching something when next we heard an awfully loud noise coming from somewhere in the house. We all jumped up from our chairs, not knowing what on earth's happened where or what it was. As the noise came from inside the house, we start to search high and low in every single room but nothing. Went outside, nothing. It couldn't be a ghost of some kind, because we had the house built and it was still brand new at that stage. Did the search again. Next morning husband was outside for some reason and then discovered that two of the rooftiles became unstuck and slided right down into the roof valley, which is right above our heads. Gave us a real scare, because we didn't anticipate that something like that will happen!
