Updates - how are you finding things?

Well the forum has been running for about a week now, I just wanted to see how everyone is getting on? Are you enjoying the forum? Are you finding it easy to use? Have you got any complaints? Would you like to see any changes?

I realise the membership level is small (but perfectly formed) and I hope that in the next few weeks we shall be able to recruit some more members. I was rather inspired by PC's success and although I am a member there I wanted something in a bit of a different style with some added features. There was also something nice about starting afresh...and I'm so glad you've all come over.

Do let me know how you're getting on as it will help me build the site in the near future.

Oola, thank you so much for starting this. I have almost no technological skills - I only learned how to text message a few weeks ago when my daughter left for uni. (my family despair of me) - so I'm greatly impressed at your skills and ability to get this off the ground. Thank you!. I'm still finding my way around, but find it very easy to use and a lot of fun. Hi Oola, I enjoy this forum so much, I dread going to bed, or doing anything else than just to sit here, talking to all the others! The topics are lovely and relaxed, there's fun and laughs, questions whereby you learn something and more of yourself. We can also be serious if that is required. I've mentioned on CL a few weeks back, that we are all different and unique, and the same simultaneously! I think we learn a lot from one another. Something else I also like, is the way we can share with others without getting blamed. Even being thousands of miles apart, I've made lovely friends. I honestly hope that this forum doesn't get scarred.

Oola it is quite simplyFANTASTIC,what a clever lady you are,you have given us all a wonderful medium through which to communicate and swap ideas,give and receive advise etc. It is easy to get around the site and the wonderful relaxed atmosphere is evident in every post. Top marks.Definately!

Oola it is absolutely brilliant! And I have absolutely no complaints;any queries I've had had been answered by you almost immediately. I come and see what everyone's doing just about every day, it's like having a group of friends to visit. I do hope it goes from strength to strength and that more people join and none of them is into banter, criticism and nastiness. The forum is like a breath of fresh air after CL!

even i am finding my way around.so you'v done a good job setting up a very efficient site. i have found 2 more old c.l they will be joining in the next week. i love how we can see who is online.i use that at the moment to know wether to write on the story thread or wait. i'm sure theres a lot more to learn yet about using this forum.very well run site. ++++

Hi Oola, this afternoon I find when I click on a topic, or click on "go advanced" when I want to submit, it's a bit slow to come up on screen. Thought I'll just let you know? It's not a problem, just a bit on the slow side.

Great stuff, thanks everyone. It's good to hear that everyone is getting on well with it - and I'll try and check from time to time that everything is running smoothly.

As I've said, there's always the Troubleshooting forum for posting queries and questions regarding the website, or if you have any ideas that you think could be implemented.

Also - Crocus: I think it might just be that the servers have been running a little slow. It happens from time to time but shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Oola, As everyone else has said, the site is wonderful. I have experienced slowness at times too but I know that is my connection (satellite broadband) others times it is very fast. I have sat on here for days posting and reading until my OH has been grumbling about being neglected but really he is happy that I have found a good place to be!!
It is lovely to read the posts without finding any "nasty surprises". Thanks for setting it all up. May the goodness you have helped spread come back to you tenfold!!

Ahhh thank you :) I have noticed that over on CL they've FINALLY shut and removed Mandy's Goodbye thread. Should have been done a long, long time ago and many of the things that were said wouldn't have been able to have been written down.

Hi Oola,yes---in answer to the 'edit' question,I made my alterations and pressed save,maybe I pressed something else that I shouldn't have done!
If you ever had the time,you should start a 'computer school' your always having to bale us out of one thing or another!!!

Such an improvement on CL site, I'd much prefer a smaller number of contributors to the psychotic gang who have taken over what was a good site. Thank you Oola. By the way, had a lovely day out at Bigbury today, hope you enjoy your visit, have put a few ideas on travel.

Well sadly today I've had to cancel our holiday to Dartmouth...really disappointed but there'll be other times to go I'm sure.

Only been on a few days, Oola, but I think it's great and a wonderful achievement. You may remember that I have a steam-driven and very unreliable dial-up connection and I find this site really quick compared to the CL site. Probably the lack of irritating adverts and the like - plus your expertise of course! Thank you so much. Kate
