Hi Oola,I received two messages this morning,I opened and read one of them and when I tried to send it ,I got an error notice and Safari said it couldn't find the server etc. so I have no way of knowing whether the recipient got my reply.I have now emailed them both through RM as I would hate people to think I am ignoring them. This happened before just after Ella was born, but I dismissed as being me doing something wrong, but now it's occurred a second time. I couldn't even open the second message.

I notice quite a number of new members, but don't notice them posting anything anywhere.

Oilennium has been banned. He used a valid email address to sign up but obviously just wanted to spam the site in a bid to get business.

Hi Oola

I had a lovely e-mail from Clunk and was surprised he had an option to send direct to my private e-mail address. He kindly explained how he got it but have an appointment to go to and quickly tried to follow what he did and got lost.

Can you explain the system please?

Gilly

Hi Gilly

If you go to your username next to each post you make, you can click on the name. This will open up a page that brings up your profile, i.e. the posts you have made, the threads you have started etc.

There is also a section to the right that allows other members to contact you by clicking a link. The strange this is that you have opted not to receive messages from other users via email (the email that you signed up with) Your email is normally only displayed when another member clicks on the 'Send message via email to GillyFB' link if you've opted to allow that.

It would be handy if Clunkshift could email or PM me to describe how he got your email address through the site. I should then be able to check everything is in order on the administration control panel.

Dear Oola

I have copied and pasted Clunks explanation - when I told him I was surprised to get his message because there was a private system on RM. So I asked how he did it and he said the following -
--------------------------------------

Your e-mail address comes up as a reply option when you send mail via Rural Muse. This is what I received as a header:

This is a message from GillyFB at Rural Muse ( http://www.ruralmuse.co.uk/forums/index.php ). The Rural Muse owners cannot accept any responsibility for the contents of the email.

To email GillyFB, you can use this online form:
http://www.ruralmuse.co.uk/forums/sendmessage.php?do=mailmember&u=79

OR, by email:
mailto: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Then your message followed. So given the choice of filling in a form or writing a normal e-mail, I chose the e-mail option.

I didn't realise until you mentioned it that Rural Muse allows direct e-mails, although I notice that my name has a Yahoo "Y" underneath so maybe there is a clue in that.
-----------------------------------

So Oola thought this may help,

Gilly

Oh I see. The link you provided takes me to the message I expected - "Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails..."

It looks as though you emailed Clunkshift first through RM, in which case I think he is given the option of emailing you back directly? Correct me if I'm wrong about you mailing him first!!! :)

OK thank you for looking at this so quickly.

So I must have for some reason gone to Clunk's name and selected e-mail. (I see it now if I click on the name.) Not sure why I didn't go the usual route and send one by the Private Message option at the top as I have learnt to in the last few weeks. Must be going loopy and the problem is I cannot blame chemo that was 6 months ago now.

Thank you for showing me.
